THE Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Engineer Oliver Chidawu has died after he succumbed to an undisclosed ailment this Tuesday morning at the age of 68.
ZANU PF Harare Provincial Chairperson, Godwills Masimirembwa confirmed Engineer Chidawu’s death saying the province has been left poorer.
“I can confirm that we have received sad news of our dear compatriot Honourable Oliver Chidawu, we are saddened as Harare province. He was a fountain of wisdom, a tireless mobiliser for the party, a pillar of strength for all of us. He was always available when the party needs guidance, we are poorer without him,” said Masimirembwa.
Engineer Chidawu was born in 1954 and became the youngest mayor in the history of the City of Harare at the age of 29 in 1984.
He was appointed Minister of State for Harare Provincial Affairs and Devolution in 2018.
