Biti Opposes PVO Bill, Calls For Citizens To Reject It

Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) vice president Tendai Biti has called on the nation not to endorse the Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) Bill saying the bill was inhuman.
Posting on twitter,the outspoken opposition legislator said that the bill would be an assault on the vulnerable communities if passsed into law.
’’The PVO bill currently in its second reading stage in parliament is one of the worst bills ever concocted in independent Zimbabwe. It is a gross abuse of human rights , an attack on vulnerable communities & an absolute embarrassment to its sponsors.It must be resisted by all’’he said.
According to its memorandum, the PVO Amendment Bill is intended to comply with recommendations made by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to Zimbabwe in relation to money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
The PVO Bill is before Parliament and several activists have rallied against it with Comrade Fatso urging the lesgilators not to vote in favour of the bill.

The government has always criticized the civil society and the non government organisations for speaking out against human rights abuses and corruption,labelling them agents of the regime change agenda and the bill is seen as a way of clipping their wings
