The Embassy of the State of Palestine has strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ interception of the Madaleen solidarity ship carrying vital aid to Gaza in international waters. According to the Embassy, this act of maritime piracy resulted in the hijacking of the ship and the abduction of 12 volunteers, including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg and French member of the European Parliament Rima Hassan.
Ambassador Tame Almassri denounced this act as state-sponsored terrorism and maritime piracy, perpetrated by the Israeli state. The Embassy expressed deep concern that all independent communication with the abductees has been severed since the interception.
The State of Palestine salutes the courage and determination of activists aboard the ship, who attempted to break the illegal siege on the Gaza Strip. Israel’s actions, including denying Palestinians access to basic necessities like food, medicine, and humanitarian aid, have been condemned by the Embassy.
The situation in Gaza is dire, with a staggering toll of innocent lives lost in aid distribution areas and transported to hospitals reaching 115, and over 1,110 others injured. The overall death toll in the Gaza Strip has surged to 54,880, with the majority being women and children, since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October 2023. At least 126,227 others have been injured.
The State of Palestine demands the immediate and unconditional release of all abductees and urges the international community to take concrete actions to end the illegal blockade of Gaza, stop its genocide war, and hold Israel accountable for its crimes against humanity .
