The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has issued a warning to individuals impersonating its officials and conducting illegal anti-smuggling operations on the country’s major highways.
In a press statement released today, ZACC revealed that these imposters are extorting money from the public, tarnishing the reputation of legitimate law enforcement agencies.

The Commission has stated that it is not currently involved in any anti-smuggling operations on the highways.
These individuals are acting unlawfully and defrauding Zimbabweans of their hard-earned money.
“It has come to the attention of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) that there are individuals posing as officials from the Commission along the country’s major highways, claiming to be enforcing an anti-smuggling operation.
The Commission is not involved in any operation of this nature,” the ZACC statement read.
ZACC has urged these imposters to immediately cease their illegal activities.
The Commission warned that anyone caught impersonating law officers will face arrest and prosecution to the full extent of the law.
In a bid to protect the public, ZACC has also warned citizens to remain vigilant, demand identification from anyone claiming to be a ZACC official, verify their identity, and under no circumstances offer bribes.
The public is strongly encouraged to report any suspicious activity or encounters with these imposters.
