High Court Grants Bail to 1 of 95 March 31 Protesters

High Court Judge Philipa Philips has granted bail to one of the 95 individuals arrested during the March 31 protests. The state has acknowledged that the accused was wrongfully arrested, as he was merely loitering near Bata and not part of the group that demonstrated at Robert Mugabe Square.

However, the matter has been postponed to Monday at 9 am for the remaining 94 accused. Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights argued that all co-accused should be treated equally, raising concerns about the fairness of the proceedings.

The development has sparked hopes for the release of the other detained individuals, with their lawyers pushing for similar consideration. The case continues to unfold, with the legal community and human rights activists closely watching the proceedings.
