In a recent press release, the Parliament extended an invitation to all interested stakeholders, including schools, libraries, national archives, government departments, and other social institutions requiring reading materials, to visit their Old Parliament Library located on Kwame Nkrumah and 3rd Street to collect the books.

“We are kindly inviting all interested stakeholders from schools, libraries, the national archives, government departments and any other social institutions that require reading materials to visit our Old Parliament Library, Kwame Nkrumah and 3rd Street for the collection of library book donations from our multidisciplinary weeded collection which includes physical books, journals, reports, bulletins, pamphlets, leaflets and brochures as will be presented.” Reads the statement.

This initiative aims to redistribute resources and ensure that these materials find a new purpose within institutions where they can still be of value.

The disposal exercise is scheduled to commence today, and will continue until May 9, 2025.

The collection will be open for acquisition from 9 am to 12 noon daily, excluding public holidays.

Interested parties will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parliament has indicated that its library team will be readily available at the Old Parliament Library to assist with the disposal process.

Institutions interested in acquiring these materials are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their own collections.
