A 46-year-old maintenance worker at Nyanga National Park has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after being convicted of raping an 8-year-old girl.
The court heard that the crimes occurred throughout 2023 while the child was temporarily residing at the park under the care of another individual.

According to court documents, the accused repeatedly abused the young girl, silencing her with threats and giving her a drink afterward.
The horrifying acts were uncovered in September 2024 when the child, during a holiday in Mutare, confided in a family member and disclosed the sexual assaults.
The offender was handed a 20-year prison sentence, with 2 years suspended.
