Sungura music lovers across Zimbabwe are in mourning following the death of popular artist Tatenda Pinjisi, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a horrific road accident near Norton on Friday evening.
The crash also claimed the lives of two of his band members and a female passenger.

Pinjisi, known for his hit song “Saina,” died at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital in Harare, where he was receiving intensive care.
His brother, fellow musician Howard Pinjisi, confirmed the tragic news.
The accident occurred as the band was traveling to Kadoma for a scheduled performance. Reports indicate that his two band members identified as bassist Naison Tembo and drummer Prosper, along with a female passenger who had been picked up in Harare, died at the scene.
Pinjisi, who was reportedly driving, was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries but ultimately did not survive.
The scene of the accident, captured in a distressing image, shows a mangled silver vehicle with extensive damage to the passenger side, deployed airbags stained with blood, and debris scattered across the road.

Tatenda Pinjisi had established himself as a great figure in the Sungura genre, earning a dedicated following through his lyrical talent and energetic stage presence.
