In a powerful show of grassroots development and commitment to self-sufficiency, Buhera North Constituency’s Honourable Philip Guyo, affectionately known as Team Guyo, has launched an ambitious programme under the banner of the Buhera Agricultural Field Day. The initiative is transforming lives across the constituency through the provision of over 40 water boreholes, as well as the distribution of chickens and farming seeds to every ward.
Speaking at one of the recent events, Hon. Guyo underscored the inspiration behind the programme, crediting President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call for locally driven development. “The President, His Excellency Dr Mnangagwa, taught us to empower our communities under the theme Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo. We can no longer rely on donations from other countries, but rather we should encourage homegrown solutions for our own district,” he said.
With a firm belief in long-term empowerment rather than temporary aid, Team Guyo has gone beyond agriculture to address the social needs of the community. Over 150 children have had their school fees paid under his leadership, and his office continues to provide consistent support to disadvantaged families in Buhera North.
Driven by a desire to align with national development goals, Hon. Guyo has already facilitated the drilling of over 100 boreholes—some even beyond the borders of his own constituency—in a move that signals unwavering support for the President’s vision of inclusive and sustainable development. “We cannot afford to disappoint the President. Hence, come next year, Buhera North should be self-sufficient,” he declared with confidence.
Through a combination of practical support and strategic vision, Team Guyo is steadily building the foundations of a thriving rural economy. His efforts stand as a testament to the power of local leadership and the enduring impact of community-first governance.
