Renovations at Zimbabwe’s National Sports Stadium are progressing smoothly, with the installation of bucket seats well underway. Addressing the media Information,Publicity and Broadcasting Services following this week’s cabinet session Minister Dr. Jenfan Muswere said bucket seats have already been installed in the VIP area and spectators’ seating bays 19, 20, and 21.
The stadium’s refurbishment is part of a broader effort to meet international standards set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The upgrades include modernizing electronic turnstiles, overhauling changing rooms and medical facilities, and installing bucket seats to address CAF’s requirements.
Acting President Kembo Mohadi recently announced that the government is finalizing the installation of bucket seats, which is expected to be completed soon. The renovations will enable Zimbabwe to host international football matches once again, reducing the country’s reliance on foreign venues.
The government’s commitment to improving Zimbabwe’s sporting infrastructure extends beyond the National Sports Stadium. Plans are also underway to modernize other sporting facilities, such as Magamba, to elevate Zimbabwe’s sports profile.
The refurbished stadium is expected to foster a more vibrant local sporting scene, enhance Zimbabwe’s ability to host regional and international events, and promote sports development in the country.
