Zimbabwe Warriors team is gearing up for a thrilling showdown against Nigeria in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Despite being at the bottom of Group C with only three points from five games, Nees acknowledges that the group is still undecided. He’s optimistic about turning things around, using these qualifiers as preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
The Warriors will face Nigeria away, followed by matches against Benin, Rwanda, South Africa, and Lesotho. Midfielder Andy Rinomhota believes Zimbabwe can claim an away win despite their current standings. “We are optimistic. We got a result against Nigeria last time, even though it was technically a home game in Rwanda,” Rinomhota said.
Nees has also praised the conditions in Uyo, Nigeria, ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qualifier against the Super Eagles. He expressed his contentment with the setup, saying, “I’m happy with the conditions here. We also need something like this at home”.
The team’s fixture schedule is packed, with the group stage running until October 2025. With the stakes high, the Warriors are ready to take on the challenge. Will they emerge victorious against Nigeria and take a step closer to World Cup qualification?
