In a significant development that underscores the ongoing political strife within Zimbabwe’s ruling party, the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU PF), prominent figure and party member Blessed “Bombshell” Geza has been officially expelled from the party. This decision was announced during a press conference held by the party today.

The expulsion of Geza comes after a series of escalating tensions within ZANU PF, which has been grappling with internal divisions and allegations of corruption. Geza, who previously served as the party’s central committee member, had been increasingly vocal in his criticism of the current administration’s policies, particularly regarding economic management and governance.

Over the past few months, Geza’s public statements, including a series of controversial interview, have drawn the ire of party officials. He accused the leadership of failing to address the country’s crippling economic challenges, including hyperinflation and unemployment, which have left many Zimbabweans in dire straits. His remarks were seen as a direct challenge to the authority of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, leading to increased scrutiny of his role within the party.

The presser was to discuss Geza’s actions and their implications for party unity ahead of the upcoming elections. The decision to expel him was framed as a necessary step to maintain discipline and coherence within the ranks. Party secretary for legal affairs, Patrick Chinamasa, stated, “We cannot allow dissenting voices to undermine the collective efforts of ZANU PF.”

He went on to quote article (19:1) of the constitution citing that every member should be loyal to the party and its leadership. According to the party those who were being expelled and suspended failed to fulfil the obligation defend, promote the party’s interest and popularizing its policies.

ZANU PF has stated it is cleaning its house after firing and suspending several of its members for corruption, soliciting bribes, abuse of offices ,manipulation of elections and using ghost social media platforms to spread false information.
