Movement for Democratic Change-Tsvangirai (MDC-T) addressed ongoing leadership challenges within the party, following a recent High Court judgment concerning former leader Douglas Mwonzora. Party Acting President Eng. Elias Mudzuri emphasized the need for unity and a renewed focus on the party’s democratic values.

Mudzuri stated that the court’s ruling misrepresented the party’s intentions and highlighted Mwonzora’s actions as detrimental to the party’s progress. “The MDC-T is not a personal property. Our commitment remains to the people of Zimbabwe and restoring our party’s democratic values and integrity,” he asserted.

He further criticized Mwonzora’s leadership, which he claimed had led to a decline in the party’s national visibility and effectiveness. “Our former leader’s actions have caused disillusionment among our supporters, and our reputation has suffered,” Mudzuri added.

The briefing included a call to all party members to rally together and focus on mobilizing support for the upcoming elections. Mudzuri expressed confidence in the MDC-T’s ability to reclaim its status as a leading political force, urging members to actively engage with constituents and promote the party’s vision for a democratic future.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, where Mudzuri reiterated the importance of collaboration and transparency within the party. “Together, we can achieve our goals and journey towards a brighter future,” he said, inviting all members to participate actively in reshaping the party.

As the MDC-T navigates this critical juncture, the emphasis remains on restoring trust, engaging with the electorate, and fostering a unified front in the face of internal and external challenges.
