A Blue Circle bus traveling from Harare to Lusaka overturned near the Chirundu Border Post on Tuesday night, leaving several passengers injured.

Eyewitnesses said that speeding may have contributed to the crash. The bus, which was reportedly operating with a single driver on the long-distance route, skidded off the road.

Injured passengers were immediately taken to Mutenderi Hospital in Zambia for medical treatment. The severity of the injuries has not yet been confirmed, and efforts are underway to gather further details.

Transport experts are urging bus operators to ensure long-distance routes are manned by two drivers to prevent fatigue and reduce the risk of accidents. There have been concerns raised over the safety of cross-border travel, with some calling for stricter regulations.

Authorities have not yet provided an official statement, and attempts to reach the ZRP spokesperson for comment have been unsuccessful.

Families with loved ones traveling on this route are advised to check on their safety.

More updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
