President Mnangagwa today launched the National Digital Ambassadors Program and received a Mobile Digital Truck from Huawei Technologies, marking a major step in Zimbabwe’s digital transformation.
Speaking at State House, ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera praised Mnangagwa’s vision for a technology-driven economy, highlighting his role in increasing internet penetration from 50.8% in 2017 to over 78% in 2024. The Digital Ambassadors Program will equip 1.5 million Zimbabweans, particularly youth, with essential digital skills, including cyber security, e-commerce, and ICT literacy.
“As your Excellency has emphasized, no one should be left behind. The Digital Ambassadors program enhances our efforts to equip citizens with the necessary digital skills”, said Mavetera. “Every young Zimbabwean can benefit from the digital economy, aligning with your Excellency’s vision for 2030”.
