Mahosi, also known as Kudzanai Gwaze Ambewe, was found guilty of two counts of robbery, during which he used violence and threats to steal cash, cell phones, and other valuables. His crime spree also included the rape of three victims, one a 21-year-old woman and two juveniles aged 14 and 12.
In these attacks, he employed threats and violent assaults, leaving his victims traumatized.
He was additionally convicted of the attempted rape of a 14-year-old girl.
The court heard that Mahosi was a repeat offender who had previously escaped from prison while serving time for a prior robbery conviction.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ),Mahosi’s sentence is a strong message to the public that offenders will be removed from the society to face their consequences.
“This sentence sends a strong message that repeat offenders will be removed from society if they fail to reform,” reads a statement from NPAZ.
