Six Suspects Arrested for Robbery and Unlawful Entry in Harare

0

Six suspects have been arrested in connection with multiple robbery cases and a case of unlawful entry into premises and theft, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed on February 12, 2025.

The suspects, identified as Richmore Munhundiyani (42), Ropafadzo Bhero (24), Maxwell Tinarwo (60), James Mucheri (43), Francis Alfandika (46), and Fungai Sithole (42), are accused of committing crimes in and around Harare between September 12, 2024, and February 5, 2025.

The breakthrough in the case came after detectives from CID Homicide received a tip-off that Munhundiyani had suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg. Acting on this information, police arrested him at Forward Shopping Centre in Chitungwiza, Harare. Further investigations revealed that he had been shot by his accomplices during a failed robbery near Dema Tollgate, Seke.

Following Munhundiyani’s confession, police arrested the remaining suspects on February 9, 2025. Law enforcement officers recovered a 38mm Smith & Wesson revolver with six live rounds, two plasma television sets, solar panels, gas stoves, a car battery, a car radio, and other stolen household goods.

Police have linked the suspects to four cases of robbery and one case of unlawful entry. These include a January 12, 2025 burglary in Mangwende Village, Seke, where a king-size bed, solar panels, cellphones, and curtains were stolen. Another robbery took place on January 21, 2025, in Chanakira Village, Seke, where the criminals stole two cellphones and USD $2.030 in cash.

Additionally, they have been implicated in an unlawful entry case in Glen View 3, Harare, on September 12, 2024, where a 32-inch television, blankets, and other household goods were stolen.

The ZRP has commended the public for providing crucial information that led to the arrests and urged citizens to continue reporting criminal activities.
