National spokesperson of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, has issued a stern warning to touts, rank marshals, and hooligans who continue to disrupt public transport services and intimidate the public, stating that they will face the full force of the law
In a press statement released Commissioner Nyathi said that touts are not only disrupting public but also endangering the well being of commuters accross the country
“Touts and rank marshall have been observed loading vehicles in the middle of roads and at undisigneated places leading to traffic chaos and hindrances to smooth venecular movement. This behaviour has resulted in a terrifying ordeal for commuters, with reports of lagguge theft and pickpocketing, he added.
To address this issue the Zimbabwe Republic Police launched an operation dubbed “No to Touts” in June 2024 aiming to restore order in all cities.
As of January 2025 police arrested 190 touts and impounded 61 unregisted kombis.Report indicated that in 2024 alone a total number of 6415 touts have been arrested country wide.
