Former Dynamos coach Calisto Pasuwa is edging closer to be appointed as the new head coach of the Malawi national team, the Flames.
According to reports by Malawian Football Association , Pasuwa, 54, has verbally agreed to a two-year contract, which is currently being finalized.
Pasuwa has an impressive coaching record, having led Dynamos to four consecutive league titles from 2011 to 2014.
He also guided the Zimbabwe Warriors to AFCON qualification and secured five straight championships with Nyasa Big Bullets.
In November 2024, Pasuwa took over as the interim head coach of the Flames, following the sacking of Patrick Mabedi.
During his interim tenure, he led the team to a draw against Burundi and a 3-0 win against Burkina Faso in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has expressed confidence in Pasuwa’s ability to bring stability and success to the team.
