2025 Tobacco Marketing Season Open on March 5

The 2025 Tobacco Marketing season is set to open on Wednesday, 5th March, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Tobacco Industry Marketing Board (TIMB), Emmanuel Mutsvaire, has announced.

In a notice released to stakeholders, Mutsvaire advised that the season will commence with auction sales, encouraging participants to utilize the booking system to facilitate smooth operations.

A brief ceremony will be held on the same day to mark the official opening of the marketing season.

Tobacco remains the country’s largest foreign currency earner after gold, emphasizing its significance to the national economy. The sector is expected to rake in substantial revenue, bolstering the country’s foreign exchange reserves.

The TIMB has assured stakeholders that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure a seamless and successful marketing season. This includes adequate storage facilities, efficient payment systems, and robust quality control measures.

Farmers, buyers, and other industry stakeholders are eagerly anticipating the start of the marketing season, which is expected to provide a much-needed boost to the local economy.

The 2025 tobacco marketing season is expected to be one of the largest in recent years, with estimates suggesting a significant increase in tobacco production.”
