SADC Chair Reaffirms Commitment to Stability in the DRC

In a pivotal statement, the Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) reaffirmed the regional bloc’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This comes amid escalating tensions in the region that demand unified action.

The Chairperson, President Emmerson Mnangagwa  called for immediate and lasting solutions to the security challenges facing the DRC, emphasizing the importance of solidarity among member states. “SADC remains steadfast in its dedication to ensuring peace and development in the DRC,” stated the Chairperson, underscoring the shared responsibility to foster stability and prosperity in the region.

The statement also highlighted the necessity of addressing these challenges in accordance with international law and respecting the sovereignty of the DRC. The SADC leadership urged member states to continue prioritizing dialogue and regional cooperation to achieve lasting peace.
