New ZRP Boss As Matanga Hands Over Power To Mutamba

There is a new police boss in Zimbabwe after Mibister in charge of policing, Home Minister Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe witnessed the hand-over take over of Commissioner General of Zimbabwe Republic Police ZRP flanked by new incoming commissioner General Stephen Mutamba after former Commissioner Godwin Matanga officially relinquished power on Friday at Mkushi Police Academy.

The Former Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga handed over the flag to the incoming Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba.

This was a symbolic gesture by the new police boss, Commissioner Gen Mutamba taking over from Comm Gen Godwin Matanga who was retired at the end of 2024 by President Mnangagwa.

A bee hive of activity was in the air as guests that included the Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe witnessed this change of guard at the police service.

Rain fell during the event but did not deter the spirit of guests, senior and junior officers that attended the event.

Comm Gen Mutamba pledged to, “utilise the experience he got from Comm Gen Matanga to steer the ship.”

The Newly appointed Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner General Steven Mutamba has with immediate effect now officially taken over the reins at the country’s law enforcement agency following the colourful ceremony held at Mkushi Police Academy.
