ZINECDA Addresses Budget Trends In Education Sector

Zimbabwe Network of Early Childhood Development Actors (ZINECDA) in partnership with Southern Africa Parliamentary Support Trust (SAPST) held a meeting yesterday addressing 2025 education sector budget priority setting laying out an analysis of budget trends in the education sector.

Speaking during the meeting local governance expert Dr Vincent Chakunda remarked that education financing is critical in hence  there is need to revise advocacy strategies towards  budget  and that there is also need of inclusive policies that look in to mental health for children for children and teachers.

SAPST Programs officer Reginald Chaoneka said, ‘’Education is the greatest equalizer so is the education sector which is often affected by a number of aspects which includes debts, floods and diseases and we are preparing the inclusion ahead 2025 Budget priority for education”.

The meeting also pinpointed the need of civil society organizations to engage the ministry of Information Communication Technologies and Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory of Zimbabwe for rolling out broadband services in the rural schools and enhancement of primary education curriculum to align it with evolving needs of the economy particularly of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics subjects (STEM).
