President Mnangagwa today officiated the burial of the late National Hero, Brigadier General (Retired) Michael Chaminuka, who was laid to rest at the National Heroes Acre.
Brigadier General (Retired) Dr. Michael Chaminuka, known as Cde Pepuka Hondo during the liberation struggle, died on the 13th of July 2024 after a short illness. He was 62 years old.
During his speech at the National Heroes Acre, President Mnangagwa honored and remembered Brigadier General (Retired) Michael Chaminuka and Brigadier General (Retired) Lameck Mutanda for t by usheir invaluable contributions to the liberation struggle and their dedicated service to Zimbabwe.
“The late National Heroes, Brigadier General (Retired) Michael Chaminuka and Brigadier General (Retired) Lameck Mutanda, will be remembered for their invaluable contributions to the liberation struggle and their service to our motherland, Zimbabwe. You stood firm for justice by defending the integrity of Zimbabwe through your loyal service in our defense forces,” he said.
“We will also remember your unflinching patriotism and selfless teamwork. ‘Zororai Murugare wana wevhu, Hambani kahle Ohawe lethu, Go well sons of the soil, Zororai Murugare magamba edu… Rest in eternal peace our decorated officers.”
