ZRP, COTTCO Fight Side Marketing Securing Cotton under the Presidential INPUT Scheme

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have joined the fight against side marketing of seed cotton that is produced from inputs disbursed under the Presidential Input Scheme (PIS).This was confirmed by the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (COTTCO).

In a statement, COTTCO Chief Executive Officer, Mr. R Mutenha said that Farmers who benefited from the program are requested to deliver their produce to COTTCO and shun side marketing.
“Under the Presidential Inputs Scheme, farmers receive inputs such as seeds, chemicals, fertilizers, tillage and agronomy support at no cost. In return they are expected to establish, maintain and deliver seed cotton to COTTCO when marketing commenced”
The ZRP warned farmers to shun side marketing of seed cotton produced through the Presidential Input Scheme.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police will ensure that the law takes its course on anyone found to be side-marketing seed cotton produced through the Presidential Input Scheme (PIS).’’
Buyers found to be persuading farmers to engage in unauthorized sales or side marketing activities will also face consequences and be held accountable.
