The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has taken aim at interviewing Socialite Wicknell Chivhayo and his former associates, who are facing corruption allegations.
According to a press release, Messrs Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe allegedly wrote a letter to a South African-based company, demanding payment as the only amicable resolution to their contractual dispute.
“ZACC will be interviewing Messrs Mpofu, Chimombe, and Chivhayo to gather more information and gain clarity on the matters highlighted,” read the statement.
This letter and Chivhayo’s recent leaked audios have raised issues related to money laundering and abuse of office, which fall within the purview of the commission. However, ZACC is also going to interview the trio regarding the Presidential goats scheme, which was mentioned in one of the leaked audios.
“ZACC will be interviewing Messrs Mpofu, Chimombe and Chivhayo on the Presidential Goats Scheme mentioned in one of the audios” said ZACC.
The commission reassured its commitment to curbing corruption and promoting honesty, financial discipline, and transparency in the public and private sectors, in line with the mandate outlined in Section 255 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
