Headlands man appeared before Rusape Magistrate Court facing attempted murder following an attempt to strangle a minor to death.
The accused person pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to seven years in prison, of which three years were suspended.
Tatenda Mudziwedare (20) was instructed to bring the head of a human being by a businessman at Sherenje Business Centre. The accused person chased the group of pupils on their way to school.
“The court heard that on 28 February 2024, the accused person was instructed by a businessman to bring him a human head. Acting on the instruction, he chased a group of pupils and managed to grab the complainant who is seven years old”.
Tatenda squeezed the minor’s neck using both hands, only stopping after he saw some villagers approaching at a distance. He narrated his ordeal to his mother who reported the matter to the police, leading to his arrest.
