Drama At Moreblessing Ali Buried

0

Slain Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist, Moreblessing Ali has been buried at Zororo Cemetery almost two years after her gruesome murder in Nyatsime.

The Ali family delayed burial in protest over Job Sikhala’s pre-trial detention. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) mounted roadblocks along the road leading to Ali’s homestead in a calculated move to intimidate mourners from attending the proceedings.

Speaking after the burial, former CCC legislator Job Sikhala said, “Ali’s murder was senseless. We finally laid our heroine to rest today. Her bones shall rise, and shall be remembered that murdering someone has consequences”.

The family was left in isolation to cover up the grave, soon after supporters from Wiwa and Chamisa camps departed due to the fist fights that emerged amongst them. One of the family members speaking in an interview with Techmag Tv said, “We were left as a family but we are happy that our sister was finally laid to rest”.

Moreblessing Ali’s friend who also spoke to this publication also pointed out that the fighting that was taking place was unnecessary saying, “Her death was so painful and has touched us. We are not encouraging people to fight, everyone has a right to choose between Nelson Chamisa and Job Sikhala I wonder why people are fighting?”

Addressing mourners that had gathered at the funeral Moreblessing Ali’s brother said “It was difficult for the family to go to work after Moreblessing was murdered because the environment became toxic. We are not aware of the judgment given to the murderer by the courts because no one has consulted us on the judgment day. We were victimized for mourning Moreblessing Ali. It is very evil, the murderers were not allowed to live in society, and we need justice.’’
