ZIMSEC Reveals 42-day Window For Rectification

0

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has issued a crucial reminder to candidates that they now have a limited 42-day window to address any concerns or discrepancies in their recently released results.

Posting on their X account, ZIMSEC’s Public Relations team highlighted the time-sensitive nature of resolving queries post-results publication.

Despite the excitement surrounding the release of results, ZIMSEC wants candidates to be aware of the ticking clock.

The 42-day deadline is a critical period during which any discrepancies or concerns must be addressed to accurately represent the candidates’ performance.

ZIMSEC reiterated the urgency, stating,

“Results queries are only accepted within 42 days after the publishing of results.”

Decoding the Symbols: CALA’s Impact on Results

Adding another layer to the urgency, ZIMSEC explained the significance of symbols such as “M” and “X” in the results. Candidates encountering the “M” symbol are advised to promptly approach their school for submission of a results query to ZIMSEC, especially in cases where CALA marks are missing.

For those facing the “X” symbol, indicating an absence due to a missing CALA mark or non-participation in a component of the subject, ZIMSEC outlined the resolution process.

Schools are required to submit a results query to ZIMSEC, rectifying the issue once the missing details are provided. Said ZIMSEC,

“(The) M symbol denotes the Missing mark. This is usually the absence of CALA marks. Candidates should go to the school and ask for a submission of results query to ZIMSEC.

“(The) X symbol denotes absent – This can either be missing CALA mark or absence to one of the exams (component) which complete the Subject. A results query should be submitted by the school to ZIMSEC where the issue will be rectified after the school has submitted the missing details.”

Costs and Procedure for Query Resolution

In addition to the time constraint, ZIMSEC shared the financial aspects of results query resolution. Remarks for each subject come at a cost of US $20.

Candidates are instructed to initiate the process by making an application, attaching a letter of support from their school head, and submitting it to ZIMSEC offices along with the required payment.

ZIMSEC stressed that, “Remarks cost US $20 per subject. You make an application, attach a letter of support from your school head, and submit it to ZIMSEC offices with your payment.”

Swift Action is Crucial for Addressing Queries

With results already released, candidates are urged to act swiftly within the 42-day window to address any concerns with ZIMSEC. The detailed information provided by ZIMSEC regarding symbols and the process for query resolution aims to empower candidates to secure accurate and fair results.
