ZEC Geared For 3 February By-Elections

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(ZEC) has informed the nation of the candidates to participate in the 3 February by-elections following a High Court Order issued on the 19th of January 2024, under Case No. HCH197/24.
The nomination of the Citizens Coalition for Change candidates has been put aside for the 3rd of February. The Candidates who have been put aside are Musingashari Musingashari of Chiredzi Town Council Ward 6, Chikonye Roger of Chiredzi Town Council Ward 7, Gwenzi Samuel of Harare Municipality Ward 5, Makone Ian Muteto of Harare Municipality Ward 18 and Haparari Innocent Kuziva of Manyame RDC Ward 7.
Zanu PF candidates have walked free into local authority positions vacant after the high court order banned the Citizens Coalition for Change from participating. In terms of section 125 {4} {a} of the Electoral Act {chapter 2:13}, only one candidate has been duly nominated for each of the specific vacant wards.
Zanu PF members have been elected as members of the local authorities with the effect from 3rd of February 2024. The candidates are Mombe Costen of Chiredzi Town Council Ward 6, Mahiya Brighton Nyashadzashe of Chiredzi Town Council Ward 7, Sapa Abdumahman of Harare Municipality Ward 5, Matsika Rufaro Daniel of Harare Municipality Ward 18 and Ngarande Simbarashe of Manyame RDC of Ward 7.
