0
Despite the information provided by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, the Citizens Coalition for Change {CCC] wishes to inform the public that the statement by ZEC that the CCC candidates have been barred from participating in the upcoming by-elections is false, inaccurate, misleading, and premature.
National Spokesperson Promise Mkwanazi said, “We are still within the stipulated timeline to lodge our appeal with the Supreme Court as provided by the law”.
“We are going to appeal within the stipulated time frame and our candidates, voters, supporters, and members of the public are advised to forge on with the campaigns and preparations as planned and scheduled”, he said.
The CCC urges the ZEC to endeavor to acquire itself with the highest level of professionalism, independence, and objectivity.  He said, “We do not expect the electoral body to recklessly jump the gun in matters of such national significance as further diminishes ZEC’s already questioned standing as credible arbiter in national electoral contestations a point already belabored by the opposition, civil society, and electoral observer missions that participated in the disputed August 23, 2023 general elections”.
