A thirty-two-year-old Mufakose man, Thomas Nyamhunga was yesterday arrested in Waterfalls in connection with a case of murder and another case of attempted murder, confirmed the ZRP.
Posting on their X account, the police said, “ZRP confirms that Thomas Nyamhunga (32) was arrested on 05/12/23 at around 0300 hours in Waterfalls following a tip-off from the members of the public. The suspect was being sought in connection with a case of murder and another of attempted murder which occurred at a house in Mufakose, Harare on 03/12/23 in which a male infant aged 5 years died while a female juvenile aged 8 years was injured.”
The suspect stabbed the two victims with a knife in their sleep after he argued with his girlfriend, the victim’s mother who had not returned from a football match.
In a similar case, the police in Sanyati have arrested Lydia Phiri (38) in connection with a case of murder which occurred in Village 20B Tom Dryer, Sanyati in which Cynthia Ziware (37) died on 02/12/23. The suspect had allegedly assaulted the victim on 24/11/23 using a stick and stones after having accused the victim of having an affair with her husband. The victim sustained some head injuries which led to her death.
