0

NetOne is successfully campaigning to raise awareness which are meant to fight stigma and societal stereotypes.

Speaking during the fundraising dinner, NetOne Group Chief Executive officer Raphael Mushanawani represented by the Acting Head for Retail and Sales Kenneth Potsekai said, “The awareness campaigns that the organization is running across the country are also part of the national mantra by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, his Excellence Dr E.D Mnangagwa ‘Leaving No One or Place Behind. These campaigns are meant to fight stigma and societal stereotypes.

The organization’s thrust is to put end to such a ‘social-ill’ as we believe ‘Albinism is not a curse’, it is just a different skin pigment. Living with Albinism does not disqualify one from enjoying the priviledges that are inscribed as human rights.”

Albinism Network Zimbabwe (ANZ) is a charitable organization whose sole mission is to improve livelihoods of people with albinism in Zimbabwe.

They envision a world where people with albinism are empowered to be fully functioning members of society, where barriers and the stigma of difference no longer exist, and where people with albinism have a quality of life that is rewarding, dignified and fulfilling.

Albinism is an inherited condition that leads to someone having very light skin, hair, and eyes. It happens because they have less melanin than usual in their body. Melanin gives skin, hair, and eyes their color. Except for vision problems, most people with albinism are just as healthy as anyone else.
