Zimbabwe is currently the foremost global exporter of blueberries outpacing all other nations in growth.
According to a study by EastFruit highlights a surge in blueberry farming investments in Zimbabwe with exports rising by 63 percent annually or 1,200 tonnes over the last years and are primarily established by investors from South Africa, these investors often diversifyor relocate production to Zimbabwe due to highly favourable climatic conditions and access to high quality water for irrigation.
EastFruit expert are looking forward yo continued growth in blueberry exports from Zimbabwe in 2023 projecting a further 30 to 40 percent increase to reach thousands tonnes hence Zimbabwe stands to gain substantially from blueberry exports in the upcoming season.
Large portion of blueberries in Zimbabwe are exported to South Africa possibly for subsequen re+ exports. The country also exports fresh supplies to the UK and Middle East countries.
Blueberries are often called a super food, this small but mighty berry is loaded with nutrients, they lower blood pressure, heart diseases and improve memory.
