Former Warriors Goalie Chigova Dies

Just a few days after the death of former Warriors and Highlanders player and coach Rahman “Rush” Gumbo, the country has once again plunged into mourning following the death of former Warriors, Dynamos and SuperSport United goalkeeper George Chigova.

He was 32.

The details of Chigova’s death were still sketchy, but sources close to the player’s family have said the player has not been well for some time now.

He was diagnosed with a heart issue in July and had to miss the opening part of the season.

An initial medical update issued by SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt recently indicated that Chigovawas was suffering from a serious condition

Chigova started his career at the Gunners before moving to Dynamos.

He joined SuperSport in 2014 and moved to Polokwane City before returning to Pretoria in 2020.

The keeper represented Zimbabwe national team thirty times including at the African Cup of Nations.
