Former Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe advisor Munyaradzi Kereke was arrested for fraud charges together with former Bikita West legislator and suspended Harare Municipal Medical Aid Society (HMMAS) chief executive Everisto Rukasha.
The duo allegedly defrauded HMMAS of US $ 137,000. The two appeared before Harare Magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa who remanded them in custody awaiting their bail hearing.
The State stated that sometime in 2014 Rukasha on behalf of HMMAS had a contract with Kereke who agreed to sell his Fortress Hospital in Ruwa for $400 0000.
The court further heard that the council medical aid society paid the full amount by November 14 2014 but Kereke and Rukasha connived and lied that the former was still owed US$400 000.
After a series of financial transactions of extortions, the matter was reported to the Zimbabwe Anti-corruption Commission leading to the arrest of the duo.
