We Can’t Leave Political Space Vacant: CCC Candidate

0

Recalled Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidates have made it clear that they will take part in the by-elections that have been pencilled for 9 December 2023 ahead of the Nomination Court that is set to sit tomorrow.

One of the recalled candidates spoke to this publication as the clock ticks closer to the Nomination Court and made it clear that they can’t then afford to leave the political space vacant as such opportunities come once in a lifetime.

The by-elections were a result of the recalls that were done by Sengezo Tshabangu who claims to be the CCC interim secretary general.

After the infamous recalls of the 14 members, through their lawyers, made an application to the High Court which on Saturday threw out the case.

“We are still deliberating. The deliberations have been progressing very well. We will have another application as soon as possible while other processes follow,” said the candidate.

He added that as a party, they would not let down their supporters and leave the political space vacant.

“For us to be where we are today, we have supporters that put us there. So, we are not going to leave the political space vacant. We are going to take part in the by-elections.

“A lot is happening; we can’t then stand by the legal route only. We have to go the legal route and also make sure we take part in the by-elections.”

All being equal, the Nomination Court will sit tomorrow. Again, CCC has to face another ghost in the house where Tshabangu already wrote to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) notifying them that CCC had only three people, Mbuso Siso, Jabulani Ncube and himself that were that would sign papers for all candidates aspiring to take part in the by-election. After scoring big in court on Saturday, Tshabangu might as well shock the nation again.

Elections are set for 9 December 2023.
