Under fire Citizen Coalition for Change interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu has called upon all the party leadership that was elected into office in Gweru during the 2019 National Congress to stand up and restore the party to its constitutional foundation and reset it towards its historic and traditional constitutional pathway as per the historic decision of the party’s National Council that founded CCC on 22nd January 2022.
Tshabangu was speaking soon after the High Court judgment in which 14 CCC Members of Parliament and Senators who he recalled had their case dismissed by Justice Munamato Mutevedzi
In his statement, Tshabangu challenged the party leadership to unite and bring sanity to the party and reiterated the need to have structures from the national level to the lowest levels of the party.
“Time has come for all of us to close ranks by closing the chapter of divisions and individualism to focus on service delivery, internal party cohesion, democracy and to refocus the movement on addressing the plight of the people and spotlighting their aspirations,” wrote Tshabangu in his latest statement.
He added, “Our elected officials in Parliament must now focus their attention on the legislative reform agenda, provide an alternative and robust voice and act on behalf of the public by holding the executive to account.”
Tshabangu, however, made it clear that for the party to overcome some of the challenges that have been bedevilling the movement, they have to form structures in the interest of collective responsibility to ensure efficiency and accountability to restore stability and certainty.
“To effectively deal with these challenges, the party must as a matter of urgency, return to Constitutionalism, and manage its affairs through constitutional and formal structures in the interest of collective responsibility to ensure efficiency and accountability to restore stability and certainty,” wrote Tshabangu
