Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (Zimura) and ex-board member Phillip Chipfumbu’s conflict finally came to end after the High Court threw away the latter’s application due to lack of merit.

In a statement, the board updated its membership and stakeholders on the latest development which was granted by the High Court of Zimbabwe Commercial Division under Case number HCHC482/23.

The press statement reads, ” As a recap Chipfumbu and his few colleagues attempted for the sake of their interests to maliciously seek for; the suspension of the operations of the Zimura board and replaced it with a ” board that included Chipfumbu himself” elected at an illegal meeting of the few colleagues held on 22 June 2023.”

Despite the Zimura board receiving overwhelming backing from the artists at the AAG meeting held on July 18 2023, Chipfumbu had been on a rampage aimed at tarnishing the image of the association and its board of directors.

As per the association’s culture all progressive members and stakeholders are also encouraged to approach the office for any clarifications and for information whenever required.

Chipfumbu is an ex-board member of Zimura, efforts to contact him for comment before publication were fruitless.
