Min Of Health To Ban All Public Gatherings

The Ministry of Health and Child Care has with immediate effect banned all public gatherings in Mashonaland Central province in an effort to curb and eliminate the deadly cholera disease that has since been recorded in the province and has been on an upsurge.
The disease which has so far killed hundreds in the country has been recorded in Muzarabani, Bindura and Shamva districts.
In a communique seen by TechnoMagTV, addressed to all district medical officers and dated November 01 2023, the provincial medical director Dr. Cremence Tshuma instructed them to inform all their stakeholders and make sure that the public complied.
“The country is currently in Cholera outbreak. The outbreak started in Manicaland but, it has now spread to other provinces including Mashonaland Central.
“In Mashonaland Central we now have cases in Shamva, Centenary and Bindura. In an effort to control the outbreak before it spreads, all public gatherings are banned,” read the statement.
Since the outbreak of cholera in February, Mashonaland Central has recorded 138 suspected cases of which nineteen were confirmed.
According to the health ministry, of the 138 suspected cases, 10 victims died due to the diarrheal disease.
The Ministry of Health and Child Care is appealing to the public to always wash their hands and fruits and to heat their food before eating.
