Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Deputy Minister Davis Marapira has urged farmers to embrace artificial insemination for positive yield in cattle rearing.

Marapira was speaking at the Field Day tour at Montana Carswell Meats in Nyabira yesterday.

” We want to grow cattle production from 5.6 million to 11 million cattle through artificial insemination, I know we can make it, artificial insemination will widen our bloodline and this system is more affordable to the rural  because one bull  can be accessible to many,” said Marapira

Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland West Province, Marian Chombo pledged to help and work together with Montana Carswell going forward.

” We toured around the farm, cattle fattening pens, paddocks, and abattoirs. We noticed that there is great work in progress here, however, we noted challenges that we will assist to enhance a good environment,” said Minister Chombo.

Montana Carswell farm is into massive cattle breeding project production to ensure food security for all. They have also started artificial insemination training programmes at the farm.
