Sanctions Limiting Zim’s Potential- SADC Chairperson

SADC Chairperson, His Excellency President of Angola, Mr Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco took the leading role to call upon the lifting of the economic sanctions that they imposed on the Republic of Zimbabwe.

In his statement, the SADC Chairperson has appealed for immediate lifting of sanctions on the Republic of Zimbabwe which are targeting a few individuals but, making an impact on the whole country’s potential to achieve various sectors.

“The reality is not new to the International Community that the imposed sanctions damage Zimbabwe’s image and limit its potential access to financial and capital markets. It is an impediment that leaves one of our members behind in our common quest for regional integration, growth and prosperity,” said Lourenco in his statement.

He added, “Therefore, SADC’s call is for the International Community to make a new rhetoric, story and direction for Zimbabwe, which will help in the creation of national and regional growth, good governance, human rights and social cohesion.”
