Independent Norton Legislator Temba Mliswa has said Chinese Mining Companies in Boterekwa are simply commercial (makorokoza) artisanal miners who are not adding any value to the local community.

In a video circulating on his social media platform Twitter Mliswa said it would have been better if local artisanal miners had been allowed to mine.

“Welcome to Boterekwa Chinese Gold Mining Services! The desolation that is going on here in Shurugwi is painful when one considers that the locals are not benefiting much.

“It would have been better if the local makorokoza had been allowed to mine and locals benefitted. These  foreigners are simply commercial makorokoza who are not adding anything to the local community.

He added that these foreign Mining companies are not rehabilitating the damaged  roads despite using them more than the local community.

“The local roads have been extensively damaged despite the Chinese companies using the same roads more than the locals. No efforts has been taken to rehabilitate them. It’s very painful to watch a whole country being decimated like this with nothing to show for it!” he said.
