ZANU PF using Sanctions to hide failures

The Citizens Coalition for Change ( CCC) has dismissed the government’s sanctions mantra  as a scapegoat to mask the ZANU PF led government’s malfeasance.

The CCC National Spokesperson Advocate Fadzayi Mahere said that the government was milking the sanctions excuse to hide it’s incompetence .

”The governor of the reserve bank of Zimbabwe says there are no sanctions imposed n Zimbabwe.Theres no excuse for ZANU PFs failure ,chronic corruption and gross incompetent that have brought the nation to it’s knees,” Mahere said.

The government has blamed the economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West as the driving force behind the country’s economic woes.

The CCC was commenting on the statements made by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Dr John Mangudya in which he unwittingly rubbished claims that the country was unable to prosper due to targeted economic sanctions, following the release of a documentary trailer by Al Jazeera ,which will expose corruption and state capture in Zimbabwe.

“There are no sanctions on Zimbabwean exports and imports, including trade in gold to warrant Zimbabwe to circumvent international sanctions through illicit trade in gold.

As such, the claim that there is a scheme to bust international sanctions using illicit ways shows beyond doubt that the peddlers of this narrative have a sinister agenda with nefarious objectives of tarnishing both the bank and the Republic of Zimbabwe,”he said.

The explosive  Al Jazeera documentary seems to be exposing some of the loopholes in the system with one of those promising the mafia networks a haven for their illicit money claiming to be “on speed dial” with the RBZ governor and suggesting there’s “a hell of a big opportunity to wash money here (in Zimbabwe)” through buying gold.

Snippets of the documentary shown to a select group of journalists in Zimbabwe revealed government officials and diplomats in a private meeting with Kamlesh Pattni, once implicated in the Goldenberg scandal that syphoned about R10.8 billion from Kenya in the 1990s but was acquitted in 2013.
