The Zimbabwe Power Company has revealed that the Harare Power Station is now generating power as the country continues to grapple with power shortages.
According to the latest figures released by ZPC,the Harare Thermal Station is currently generating 10 MW against a generation capacity of 90 MW.
The small power station had been idle due to routine maintenances works as well as the shortage of coal .
Zimbabwe is currently battling a power crisis which has been worsened by low generational capacity and equipment breakdown at the country’s main power stations.
The latest power crisis began at the end of November, when the hydro plant in the Kariba Dam had to be switched off due to the receding dam levels at Lake Kariba, according to the Zambezi River Authority which manages the water supply.
