Zambia suspends import duties on film and music production equipment

 The Zambia government has suspended import duties on film and music production equipment to facilitate the introduction of new equipment and help boost the country’s broadcasting sector by improving quality of output.

Zambian president Hakainde Hichilema applauded the move and urged those who qualify to take advantage of the waiver.

Goods on which Customs Duty has been suspended shall not be sold or otherwise disposed of, to any person not entitled to import the goods free of duty.

This gives an opportunity to organizations registered under the National Arts Council of Zambia to import equipment without paying taxes.

The list of exempted equipment includes loudspeakers, audio frequency electric amplifiers, television cameras and transmission apparatus among others.
