The Law Society of Zimbabwe (LSZ) has pledged to help the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) as they go digital.

Addressing journalists on Friday, President of LSZ Rumbidzai Matambo said the Society has managed to adequately train their members to face the new realities in the delivery of justice.

“We have also been working closely with the Judicial Services Commission in its roll-out of the Integrated Electronic Case Management System. Our members are adequately trained to face the new realities in the delivery of justice.

“As things stand all registered legal practitioners have an account that gives them access to the IECMS. We have our finger on the pulse and stand ready to assist government in the delivery of justice to our people.”

The newly elected LSZ President also highlighted that they are looking forward to create a just society, as they work together with JSC.

On 1 February, 2023 the JSC introduced the IECMS in the Labour Court and Administrative Court.

The move to digitalise JSC is in line with Government’s policy to take justice delivery system to the people in line with National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).

IECMS system is a web-based Case Management System which automates and tracks all aspects of case life cycle, from the initial filing through disposition and appeal.

IECMS enhances justice through easy accessibility of cases, electronic consultation on chat platforms, electronics allocation and transfer of cases and virtual hearings and online notifications.

The First Phase of IECMS was commissioned on February 7, 2022, by then it was only catering for Magistrate Court, Commercial Court, Supreme Court and finally the Constitutional Court.

In the future IECMS will integrate with systems from organisations such as the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services, Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Court and many other organisations.
