Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona has lifted the suspension of operating licences of Tashllyt Investments trading as Zebra Kiss.

Last week, Government had suspended the operating licences of Rimbi and Zebra Kiss Buses from operating all routes across the country, after their drivers carelessly caused a serious accident while racing with passengers on board.

The racing buses were captured on a video before the they were involved in an accident that claimed one life and left other passengers nursing their wounds.

In a statement Mhona said, the lifting of the suspension follows the submission of comprehensive measures put in place by Zebra Kiss to avoid such incidents in the future.

“The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development wishes to advise the public that it has lifted the suspension of the licence for operating of all omnibuses belonging to Tashllyt Investments trading as Zebra Kiss.

“The lifting of the suspension follows the submission of comprehensive measures that have been put in place by Tashllyt Investments to avert such incidents in future. After a meticulous consideration of the submission, the Ministry is satisfied that the measures that have been mainstreamed by the Operator are adequate to checkmate recurrence of operational behaviours which can be interpreted as violations of terms and conditions of the licence.

“The Ministry will continue to enforce and monitor compliance with the terms and conditions of al operators’ licences, including measures against reckless and negligent driving,” he said.

Mhona did not mention anything about Rimbi tours in the statement. However, there are allegations circulating social media that Rimbi Travel and Tours abandoned accident victims leaving Zebra Kiss paying the medical bills of the injured passengers alone.
