Police arrest two more suspects in connection with Mrehwa violence

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has apprehended two more suspects involved in the political violence that targeted opposition supporters in Mrehwa last week.

The ZRP released the names of the suspects who were part of the politically motivated violence that left  several opposition supporters severely injured.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of two other suspects, Paul Kachigu (34) and Dignity Nadzo (31) in connection with the case of alleged political violence which occurred in Murewa North on 06/01/23,’the police said.

The police added that investigations were underway to apprehend the other 17 suspects who were part of the heinous crime.

A gang of suspected ZANU PF thugs  unleashed a brutal beating  on elderly supporters of the Citizens  Coalition for Change (CCC) after they had convened for a meeting in Mrehwa and captured the act on camera.

The video went viral and sparked nationwide outrage and condemnation from all corners

The latest arrests bring the the total number of suspects involved in the Murehwa violence to three following the arrests of 67 year old 7-year-old Never Chimutashu in connection with the  case.
