Chairman of the world’s largest tapped diamonds in the world, which are actually less than Zimbabwe’s if they were tapped, Botswana Diamonds (BOD), John Teeling has implored Zimbabwe Minister of Mines and Mining Development Hon Winston Chitando to sit down with his Botswana counterpart so as to find a lasting solution in working together in the diamond sector.
The Chairman of Botswana Diamonds made his intentions clear to corporate with their neighbor given the fact that Zimbabwe is believed to be sitting on two thirds of the world’s diamonds.
Zimbabwe has vast resources in the diamond sector which Minister Chitando alluded exclusively to TechnoMag are, “Part of the mineral structure which will lead Zimbabwe into attaining his USD$12 billion mining Economy by end of this year.”
Minister Chitando last year attained a USD$8,5 billion mining economy an increase from 2021’s USD$5 billion achieved by the mining sector and such growth seems easy to now reach Usd$12 billion by end of 2023 toward President Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s middle income Economy by 2030.
In a trading update, the BOD Chairman said: “There are significant geological opportunities in the country. The objective is to find a formula, which suits all parties.”
Botswana Diamonds saif it is liaising with the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development authorities in Zimbabwe, and also in South Africa, to acquire exploration assets.
The BOD Chairman also added that a 2019 joint venture with Vast Resources, to develop the Chiadzwa Community Diamond Concession in the Marange diamond fields was part of the efforts BOD worked on in trying to Bring Mnangagwa’s government and his Minister Hon Chitando on the table for a lucrative joint venture meant to benefits both sides in a win-win situation.

Indeed massive and vast diamond reserves are in the Marange diamond fields however a lasting solution is required with artisanal miners.
Some critics have mentioned a sticking factor in allegations of that led in embargoes by the United States and the European Union.

Botswana has the greatest of experience with diamonds and the country relies on diamond mining for around 70 per cent of its foreign currency revenue, though it is battling grinding poverty among its 15m population.
